Fall Times

Sunshine filtered through color leaves: deep red, golden yellow, burning orange

Cold brisk mornings making my nose and toes frightfully icy to the touch

The smell of burning piles of leaves filling the air

Orange pumpkins grown by my wee tot in the yard all summer, suddenly adorning our front porch

Dried out corn stalks from our garden wait in a desolate state by the compost bin to be used for decoration

Mounds of candy corn melting on my tongue

Hot caramel apple ciders from Starbucks - Grande please

Homemade apple crisp (Granny's recipe) and a scoop of Vanilla bean ice cream

Homemade apple sauce (Mom's recipe)

Traditions abound in our household this time of year

Homemade hot cocoa made with warm milk, just the right amount of Ghiradelli chocolate and mini marshmallows

Turning the fireplace on and getting cosy in front of it

Maple roast chicken with sweet potatoes - this simply melts in my mouth

Walks through the falling leaves, kicking them, making piles to jump in, throwing, silliness in the dappled sunny afternoon sky

Snuggling under a down comforter on a cold night with the doggies and my honey

Freshly made caramel apples from Musgrave's

Pumpkin farm

Chubby toddler feet stuffed happily (!) inside little pink socks

Apple picking

Halloween costumes, bugs of different sorts will be present in our house - one will be a lady, the other a sturdy helpful spidery kind!

The best chili on earth served over brown rice with a dollop of sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese, warm bread dripping with butter, and freshly cut up apples

Crock pot smells fill in every space in our house

First frosts, rainy cool days, and watching the season slowly winding toward the depths of winter, snowy days, children dreaming of Santy Claus and Christmas morning, and all the new wonders that a new season will bring.

Fall.
